Late Score Costs Murray Spartans Against Olympus
Murray Spartans stayed in it until the end, but Olympus pulled away late in a 7-3 victory on Wednesday on a rain soaked afternoon. Olympus was down 2-0 in the bottom of the sixth inning when the rain set in and everything changed. With two strikes A Affleck homered driving in three runs.
Murray Spartans took an early lead in the second inning. Murray Spartans scored one run when Alex Hannay singled with one out in the second inning.
H Curtis earned the win for Olympus. He pitched one and two-thirds innings, allowing one run, one hit, and striking out two. Myrberg, for Murray, threw six innings, giving up seven runs, ten hits, and striking out four.
S Jones started the game for Olympus. He tossed five and a third innings, allowing two runs, seven hits, and striking out nine.
Murray Spartans had eight hits in the game. Drew Staley and Jayden Sinju each collected multiple hits for Murray Spartans. Stockton Madsen and Hannay each drove in one run to lead Murray Spartans. Murray Spartans didn’t commit a single error in the field. Alex Nelson had the most chances in the field with eight.
Olympus collected ten hits. Curtis, R Vance, and G Singer each collected multiple hits for Olympus.
