At the annual Kearns Relay Meet, Murray competed against seven 6A schools including Copper Hills, Cyprus, Taylorsville, Hunter, Granger, and West Jordan. This is a wildly unique meet comprised entirely of traditional and non-traditional relays including T-shirt exchanges, fins, two-person chains, and crescendo distances.
Murray boys and girls combined for second place overall with winning times in 8 of 27 relays:
Boys 200 medley – Gavin Holmberg, Ethan Leonard, Holden Cheney, Tyler Jacobsen
Girls 200 partner medley – Sara Gratton, Uso Tagoa’i, Lauren Bernstein, Izzy Wright, Sierra Peterson, Rachel Wilcox, Sarah Walton, Malialani Hull
Boys 250 butterfly crescendo – Holden Cheney, Lincoln Yospe, Micah Black, Tyler Oviatt
Girls 200 8 x 25 free – Ellie Oviatt, Nele Deback, Janissa Montilla, Emma Brimley, Rylee Snow, Kelle Baer, Tylee Peak, Alejandra Uvario

The co-ed 400 free relay is the crowning event of the meet. 16 freestylers from each school thrash 25 yards with lights out and glowsticks on. On a relay team comprised largely of seniors, the Spartans seized the win from Kearns with splits averaging less than 12 seconds. What a blast!
