Traveling to nearby Cottonwood High, the Murray swim team had another winning night. Boys and girls combined for a score of Murray 180 vs. Cottonwood 151.
Spartan boys came from behind to win the 400 free relay, separated by a final lunge and 0.13 seconds: Joey Horne, Ethan Leonard, Devin Jessop, Gavin Holmberg
The boys team won 4 of 8 individual events led by Devin Jessop (Jr.) with 13 points. Jessop prevailed in the 500 free by an imposing 24 seconds, and swam the fastest split of the 400 free relay team.
First place finishes also belonged to the following point leaders:
Lincoln Yospe (12) – 100 free
Gavin Holmberg (12) – 100 breast
Holden Cheney (10) – 100 fly
Remaining team points were scored by Ethan Leonard (10), Joey Horne (7.5), Tyler Jacobsen (5.5), Micah Black (5.5), Will Taylor (4.5), and Michael Correa (4) in addition to Robert Jorgensen, Skylar Galt, Liam Morris, Brandon George, and Case Elliott.
Spartan girls controlled the 200 free relay, winning by 4.6 seconds: Ally Uvario, Tylee Peak, Sarah Walton, Uso Tagoa’i
Three different swimmers shared a team-high of 12 points for the girls. Ally Uvario (Sr.) went out hard to win the 200 free in 2:12.76, setting a second straight PR. Uso Tagoa’i (Sr.) comfortably led all swimmers in the 100 breast, and anchored the 200 free relay. Stephanie Poprzenovic (Fr.) won the 200 IM with a PR of 2:30.31, cutting serious time in both the backstroke and butterfly legs.
Team points were also scored by Sarah Walton (10), Brooke Horton (7.5), Tylee Peak (6), Emma Brimley (5), and Izzy Wright (4.5) in addition to Sara Gratton, Riley Thompson, Maryn Stone, Malialani Hull, Janissa Montilla, Lauren Bernstein, Sarah Taylor, and Rachel Wilcox.
